Adepts are uncommon in general, mostly found in slums, backwater villages, and other places less touched by the blessings of high civilization.

Most adepts are people born with the potential of being a sorcerer, but their abilities were not recognized for what they were. In this case they were never given the opportunity to train their abilities under a wizard or sorcerer and lacked the capability to train themselves. Thus, they ended up with rudimentary channelling skills.

Exhibiting these abilities is dangerous in most places, especially in small villages where superstition might spook the villagers into forming a witch hunt. Still, some villages may learn to use and trust their adepts as healers and leaders.

Many potential adepts ignore their abilities and pursue more socially acceptable interests, as many bards and sorcerers do.
